Week of October 24th: Red Ribbon Week

The students did very well on their reading assessment last week.  I am so proud of them.  This week we will start a new unit in reading about transportation.  Here is a link to fun activities about this week: The Bus For Us.  Here is the parent information for this week:  Transportation: Week 1.  If your child is interested in this topic, here is the link for information about other books about transportation:  Transportation books.

This week's letter/sound is "t," color is black, number is 7 and shape is diamond.  The new sight word this week is "see."

In math this week we will learn all about the number 10 such as ways to make ten (example: 5 and 5, or  7 and 3, or 9 and 1), comparing sets to ten and putting numbers in order from 0 to 10.

In science we will do hands-on activities and games that the estuary brought for us to do so that we can learn about animals in our area.

Don't forget to send in food for the canned food drive.  The class that collects the most cans will receive a pizza party.  It is from now until November 16th.

On Friday we will celebrate Halloween by dressing up in costumes (nothing too scary) and then marching in our annual character parade.  The students can wear their costumes to school, or bring them and change after lunch. We will not dress up on Monday.  Friday will be our Exceptional Eagles Pep Rally at 1:00 and the Character Parade will be at 2:00.  If you have any questions, feel free to call or send a note.

It is Red Ribbon Week this week.  Don't forget to have your child wear his/her red ribbon every day.
