"All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten" (Robert Fulghum).

About Mrs. Allen

My name is Lena` Allen and I am a 2005 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  My first teaching experience was a long-term sub for fourth and fifth grade math and science.  After that I taught first grade for  two years and this is my fourth year teaching kindergarten.
I have previously worked for the Franklin County Public Library Summer Program for children in grades K-5.  I have worked for the after-school program and the summer program for both Project Impact and the Boys' and Girls' Club at the ABC School from 2006 until 2010.  In addition, I worked for the summer program for pre-school age children at St. Patrick's Church and taught religious education classes to elementary school children for a year.  These experiences gave me a lot of insight into childhood education.  I find teaching very rewarding.
I am married and have one daughter who is two years old.  In my spare time I love to read, travel, and play outside with my family.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with your child this year.  Our class will learn to read, write, add, subtract, explore, problem solve and much, much more. I enjoy watching my students grow as they develop a love of learning.   I will motivate your child to get excited about school and I will do my best to help your child reach his/her full academic and social potential.  I love teaching kindergarten.
