What's new this week?

This week our class started chapter seven of our math curriculum, so if you want to play some games with your child on Go Math, that is where to go. Just click on the "math" link on the left and click on "Go Math." We are learning about position words such as between, beside, above, below, left, and right. Next week we will learn to sort objects by color, shape, size, etc. On the math homework it will occasionally ask for you to use counters. This can be anything you can count such as coins, pieces of cereal, skittles, beans...basically whatever you can find around your house.
In reading next week we will continue reviewing letters and sounds, and also reading and writing sentences with the words "I" and "can."
In science we are beginning to learn about the five senses. Next week will be all about the sense of sight. Each student will build a model of the eye. To do this we will need a 12 x 12 piece of large bubble wrap, 12oz white disposable bowls, clear plastic wrap and 19 recycled CDs. If you have any of these things, please let me know by Tuesday. I will post pictures next week of our science activities.
Thanks for all of the items that have been sent in from our wish list. You are great! Check back soon for pictures of Show and Tell last Friday.
Upcoming events this week: No school Monday because of Labor Day and Open House is Thursday at 5:30. Hope to see you there!
