Week of November 28

The food drive was a success.  Our school goal was 500 items and our school brought in a total of 1, 608 items.  Our class total was 174.  Wow.  We did not win, however, because another class brought in 242 cans.  I was very proud of our class and their enthusiasm for helping those less fortunate.

Reading:   We will continue learning about Food.  Here is a link to fun activities:  Our Special Sweet Potato Pie.   Here is a link to the parent letter:  Food Week 2.   Our new letter/sound is "c" and the new sight word is "have."

Math:  We are learning about separating problems (subtraction).  You can easily practice this at home with pieces of cereal, candy or coins.  Start with a number and tell your child to take away a certain number and then have them tell you how many are left.
We will also review the + (means to add or join) and - (means to subtract, take away, or separate) symbols.

Science:  We will learn about how vibrations make sounds.  If anyone has a tuning fork, we need one for Friday for one of our activities.

News:  Mrs. Marisa was able to take able to take a video of the students performing at the Thanksgiving play.  I will try to see if I can figure out how to post it on here for you to see.

We have had some very generous families lately and I have been able to take things off of our wish list.  Every student now has a clipboard to use for math and we have a filing cabinet also.  Please check out the link on the left for the current wish list items for our class.  Thanks for all you do.
